Casting Fire
What is your calling, your mission, your vocation?
We only have one true vocation: “to cast fire upon the earth.â€? Thomas Merton says, and then states:
…to become fused into one spirit with Jesus Christ in the furnace of contemplation and then go forth and cast upon the earth that same fire which Christ wills to see enkindled. (Thomas Merton, Seven Storey Mountain)
“You are called to the summit of perfection: you are called to a deep interior life perhaps even to mystical prayer, and to pass the fruits of your contemplation on to others.” (419)
